Some books a female survior of child abuse found helpful
Hello, I am an incest survivor, as well as a victim of sexual abuse by my father's bestfriend. I tried to ignore the problems I was having as an adult for many years, but finally found the courage to start dealing with them last September. Even though I have a long way to go, I just wanted to mention three books that are really helping me to heal:
Rescuing the 'Inner Child': Therapy for Adults Sexually Abused as Children by Penny Parks. This provides some really helpful techniques for healing with or without a therapist.
Secret Survivors: Uncovering Incest and its'a After-effects in Women by E. Sue Blume. This is a great book with the most incredible insights into what victims of incest go through, both during and after the event.
The Courage to Heal Workbook by Laura Davis. I found this book much easier to cope with than the Courage to Heal proper, and the exercises are really good.
